I’ll be honest with you here.  I don’t remember half of my night last night and I’m paying for it today.   If my writing is a little off at the moment, I blame it on the vodka. I’m usually a responsible drinker, but sometimes even the best of us go a little… overboard. 

Alcohol aside, I figured this evening is as good as any to detract from my usual fair of “check out this artist’s work” and change the focus to “check out my work.”  Yup.  I’m going there.

The above photograph is the very first photo I’ve taken that has ended up in an art show.  I’m pretty proud of the picture. It was taken on a street in the Chelsea Historic District.  I was strolling leisurely after visiting some galleries, and the wrought iron of the beautiful old brownstones really captured my attention.  So, I sat on someone’s front stoop and took a shot of their garden through the stair railing, just one quick shot. 

I have to admit that this isn’t my favorite photo I’ve ever taken, but my mother was in love with it, so I chose to show it for her.  I think it sort of evokes a feeling of romance and of timelessness.  Or that could just be my hangover talking.

I have to also put out there that Ben at Hampton Photo Arts really went above and beyond for me in regards to the matting and framing of the photograph.  I owe him, big time.  Seriously, if you’re ever in my area and you need art or photo supplies or custom framing, go to them – not just because they did me a solid, but because they’re so professional and really care about what they do there.

Alright, I need some Advil now.
